Redeemed- Linework by Tula Pink
Redeemed was inspired by a few different elements, the first being my mother! My mom is part of a quilting group that spends quilting weekends at a girl scout camp in Iowa. Every year they create a new challenge for themselves. This year’s challenge was to create a black and white quilt pattern! My mom adores Tula Pink, so Linework was the fabric she chose to make her challenge quilt.
Redeemed can be purchased here in the Yellow Umbrella Quilts shop.
Using Precuts
I had also been playing with the idea of a charm pack quilt that had crosses in it. I love precuts because every piece in the line of fabric is in each precut, whether that be a fat quarter bundle, layer cake, jelly roll, or a charm pack. This adds such a nice variety of fabrics and colors to your sewing project.
Typically, brick and mortar quilt shops only carry a handful of fabrics from the line, and mostly in one or two of the colorways. Notably, this often causes similar fabrics to be in close proximity to each other in your quilting projects. If you are like me, you might be particular about having two of the same prints next to each other. Precuts help eliminate this issue. However, sometimes it can be hard to find patterns that utilize precuts. Often, I have found that quite a few precut patterns cut the precuts up into small pieces. In doing so, it is easy to lose the design of the fabric in the design of the quilt.
We color-matched Tula Pink’s solids to the colors in Linework to come up with the accents for the crosses. I absolutely love all the animals in the fabric line. However, I think the skunks are my favorite!

Since our long arm machine is no longer in service, I have been sourcing out the quilting. Elaine Hart was kind enough to take me on as a new customer. She used Obi from Urban Elements to quilt Redeemed.

I love how the binding just brightens the entire quilt. And of course, I had to pick the skunks for the backing!
