Churn Dazzle- Homemade by Tula Pink
Churn Dazzle has easily become my favorite quilt pattern thus far. It came together quickly and was just a joy to make. Tula Pink’s Homemade fabric line was also used in our Girls Just Wanna Have Fun quilt pattern. The line is so bright and happy, I couldn’t resist making another quilt with the fabric.
Churn Dazzle is a modern take on a churn dash quilt block. To add a little more pizzazz, I added a star to the middle of the churn dash block. Hence the name, Churn Dazzle!
This pattern is available in 4 quilt sizes: baby, throw, twin, and queen. In addition, this quilt is also fat quarter friendly, but quilters also have the option to use 1/3 yard cuts, depending on variety. This version is a throw size at 57 in. x 69 in.
For the binding, I used Tula Pink’s coordinating solids from the Designer Essentials Solids fat quarter bundle. Since the design of the quilt, and the fabric used, is so jazzy, I wanted the binding to be as spunky the rest of the quilt.
This is the first quilt in which I used a dark background fabric. It was kind of a no brainer, since the rest of the line was so vibrant. The dark background definitely makes the blocks pop off the quilt.
Since our long arm quilting machine is out of commission, Churn Dazzle was quilted by Elaine Hart. She quilted this quilt with Vintage Stitches from Urban Elementz.
Churn Dazzle is available for purchase in the Yellow Umbrella Quilts shop.
