HULLABALLOO: RILEY BLAKE KISSES

April 21, 2020

Hullaballoo is the second quilt I made. It came together fairly quickly! At first, I was a little nervous about the dashed sashing. However, once I started pinning, it all came together quite nicely without any hiccups!

Hullaballoo is available for purchase in the Yellow Umbrella Quilts shop.

I only used 3 colors for the blocks because I wanted this quilt to be more uniform than scrappy. I used Riley Blake’s Kisses in Lilac, Purple, and Raspberry for the blocks. For the accent color, I used Riley Blake’s Kisses in Navy.

For the backing I just wanted something simple, so I used the same pink from the quilt top, Riley Blake’s Kisses in Raspberry. I used this same fabric for the binding as well because I really wanted the binding to pop against the dashed sashing.

For the stitching, I decided to freehand straight lines along the rows. I have been using white thread for quilting on all of my quilts because it doesn’t detract from the blocks. I also like using white thread because I find it to give quilts a more modern look.

My daughter loves all things pink and purple, so this is her favorite quilt thus far!

Happy quilting!
