SUNSHINE & WILDFLOWERS: WILDFLOWER BOUTIQUE BY RBD
Sunshine & Wildflowers was made for and inspired by my mom. She really likes star blocks and enjoys making flying geese. I decided to make floating stars to emphasize the crisp points of the stars. Since my mom and I have very similar taste in fabric, we both fell in love with this fabric line!
I used Riley Blake’s Wildflower Boutique for the blocks and Bella Solids White for the background.
This pattern can be purchased here in the Yellow Umbrella Quilts shop.

Since this pattern is made with floating stars, it ensures that the star points don’t get cut off in the seams. In addition to floating stars, I enjoy making my star patterns with flying geese instead of half square triangles. You can find an in-depth flying geese tutorial in the Yellow Umbrella Quilts blog, here.

I adore the vibrant yellow backing. It makes all of the flowers pop! The bright pink binding compliments the backing nicely. This fabric line has all of my favorite things, flowers and polka dots! Wildflowers by Riley Blake even has a Spanish feel to it with the mosaic prints. The fabric reminds me of my time studying abroad in Spain.

Sunshine & Wildflowers was quilted on a long arm using Maggie’s Rose- Grande from Urban Elementz.
Happy quilting!
