Not sure what to do with your fabric scraps? Make some coasters! These coasters are relatively quick to make and super fun. They would make a great Galentine’s Day gift!

The finished size for these coasters is 4.5 in.

I found these cute quilting pattern scraps in my mom’s scrap bin. Per coaster, you need (4) 2.5 in. squares and (8) 1.5 in. squares. For batting and backing, I used a 5 in. square for each.

On the back of your background squares, draw a diagonal line. With right sides together, sew on the diagonal line. Then trim 1/4 in. from the seam.

Press seams towards background on one 2.5 in a square, and press the other towards the print in order to nest the seams.

With right sides together, sew together nesting the seams. Repeat and arrange in either an X or an O shape and sew together. Next, layer a 5 in. backing square right side down, a 5 in. batting square, and the coaster quilt top. Pin together and quilt as desired.

All that is left to do is to trim and bind the coasters! I was able to use a 20 in. strip of fabric for the binding. Find my full binding tutorial here.
